i-LEAP Nursery English Programme focusses on the essential preliteracy skills that covers more than the ability to identify letters, but include also other important skills such as oral language and phonological and phonemic awareness (the awareness of sounds), as well as knowledge of the alphabet and an understanding of common print concepts (print goes from left to right and from up to down on a page).
The lessons and activities in the i-LEAP Nursery English Programme also aim to prepare kindergarten-going children with essential preliteracy skills such as- the ability to carry on a brief conversation and engage in lessons
- able to recognise letters of the alphabet and the sounds that these letters make
- basic print concepts, such as knowing that printed words convey meaning by creating a language-and print-rich environment
Effective teaching resources are also provided to facilitate teachers to create an engaging play-based activities during their English lessons, such as Interactive Lessons and Animation.
